March Madness

March 10--Paul's parents came down to visit for a long weekend.  Lauren was SOO excited that we had visitors.  Apparently when they picked Lauren up from school, she said, "Are we going to Penn-sil-VANE-EE-uh?"  She jumped in their truck and was ready to go!  She popped in on her grandparents and played Mancala with Grandpa Wade.
Hop on Grandpa!
Let's read a story!
Grandma Wade was here, too, but somehow she missed getting her picture made with Lauren!
March 12--We went shopping at Concord Mills.  Lauren did a GREAT job with the drive, the people, and the stimulation.  We got some cute clothes (for Lauren), including this new dress.  Lauren was a little embarrassed that we saw her loving on her Cara doll.
 And...
March 17--We celebrated St. Patrick's Day at Gepetto's in Newton!  YUM, white pizza!!  It happened to be Family Night and the Balloon "Leprechaun" was there.  Lauren requested a pink and puple butterfly!
March 19--Carrie, Chatham, Lauren, and I had a shopping date.  We had to go to Party City to get ready for Chatham's 2nd birthday and a "baby" shower I was helping to throw for a co-worker who is adopting a boy.  Here are the hams wearing bunny ears!
Lauren was SO sweet to Chatham and we told them that if they didn't hold a Mommy hand, they had to hold each other's hand.  Too adorable!  Chatham loved having Lauren to talk with and Lauren loved the socialization and "helping"!
March 20--Warmer weather is approaching and we're having extremes.  It's either 50 or 80, not much in between.  Lauren and I thought my front garden was a little sad, so we bought pink, white, and magenta flowers to help spruce up the front!  This is the first year that Lauren is really understanding planting and she did a great job helping to organize, pat down the dirt, and water.
Daddy came home to see us girls working hard!  In a very rare moment, I made him take a picture of us!
"What are you doing, Mommy?  Can I help?"
March 22--Our school system hosts the "Red Hot Spelling Bee" to help earn money for the Education Foundation.  Here is our ACT team and my co-workers.  We did a great job this year!
March 2 is Dr. Seuss's birthday.  At school, Lauren's class read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and made their own aquariums.  Paul said I cannot keep all of the artwork, so I told him I at least had to take a picture before the fish met their new home.
Lauren LOVES the letter L!  Can you tell?  She's been drawing L's for the past 2 months and they continue to improve.  We're working on A now.
March 26--Chatham actually turns 2 on March 28, but we had his birthday party a few days early.  Paul made the CUTEST cupcakes which were actually ice cream cones with icing on top!  Lauren sported her adorable cupcake dress for the ocassion.

 Dot-Dot art at the party
 Cara striking a pose!
 Yum!
 YUM!
 Happy Birthday to You!!
 Mommy and Lauren
 The Birthday Boy and Lauren--CHEESE!!
The favors at this ice cream social were the cute waffle cone bowls and ice cream cone spoons.  Lauren pretended to make macaroni and cheese and Chatham copied her every move!  (The microwave was the coffee table in the background.)
March 27--We went out and about today, ending up in Sears.  For whatever reason, Lauren thinks that plungers are hysterical!
Lauren's getting over some funk.  Not sure what it was, but she's on an antibiotic and perking up!  Here are some of her favorite things:

Drink--Simply Orange Orange Juice, no pulp (yes, it makes a tremendous difference!)
Side Item--fries (in ketchup or ranch)
Fruit--peaches
Movie--How to Train Your Dragon; Toy Story 2; Beauty and the Beast
Disney Character--Belle
Shoes--brown dress shoes with lady bugs
Music--Taylor Swift
TV Show--Mickey Mouse Club House, Phineas and Ferb, Jake and the Neverland Pirates
Junk Food--Chips (like Daddy)
Parent--Mommy (mean to write this, I know, but Paul accepts it)
Animal--Cats, giraffes, horses

Super Busy February

Sorry for the Blogger hiatus.  Work, life, and in between have been very demanding!

February 6--Lauren ready to go to church.  She has a passion for cute sunglasses.  I love the coat!

Smile!!

After Lauren woke up from her nap, she had a surprise!  Carrie had called earlier in the week, asking for a reason to buy a girl present for a little girl!  Lauren had not had any overnight accidents for TWO WEEKS by this time, so that was good enough for Carrie!  Lauren's gift was a tub of Princess games!  Let's say that we have played a LOT of games over the past month!  Thank you, Carrie!!
Later that day, we gathered with our family to celebrate the Super Bowl.  We are certainly a Steelers Family!

Shawn the Sheep, Paul, Lauren, Logan, and Josh were ready to go!
Josh, Logan, and Shelly
February 16--Lauren and I were having issues with getting dressed.  We had set out Lauren's clothes the night before.  She didn't want to wear her brown flower shirt and jeans.  She wanted to wear the brown flower shirt and brown flower leggings (that don't match).  I vetoed that then pulled out a pink top to go with the flowered pants.  When I went back in, Lauren had taken the pink top with a pair of navy corduroys...just like mommy!  However, I wasn't dressed when Lauren when Lauren was making her choices!  Talk about funny!
February 19--We got a WONDERFUL and UNEXPECTED surprise!  Justin, Kim, and Jacob Miles came from Pittsburgh to visit!  We took the kids to the Children's Museum in Huntersville.  Jacob and Lauren LOVED the water play!
Wow!  A picture of Mommy and Lauren!!
Kim and Jacob ready to brave the rapids!
Paul found his ride!  He's ready to go!
Lauren loved to go grocery shopping!

Jacob driving the fire truck

Suzy and I taught Sunday School this month.  We did a cute craft with the kids and needed to get pictures of the kids.  Of course, what would a picture session be without one of Lauren and Harris?  And they matched!
Sadly, it was time to say goodbye!  We had a fun and quick weekend, but we were certainly excited to see our friends!  Lauren and Jacob got along well, don't you think?
February 23--I'd been wanting to get Lauren a big girl bike to ride.  I finally conned Paul into it!  Funnily enough, it was, as requested, pink and purple princesses!!

February 24--Lauren was ready to ride on the driveway.  Her princess helmet matches her bike!

This past weekend was lazy.  We had monsoons spraying the Conover area, so we stayed tucked in most of the time.  Saturday morning was nice, so we piled in the truck to get mulch and pick out new trees at the nursery.  Sadly, Lauren had a bad streak of the "breaks"...

  • Saturday--broke a rain gauge at the nursery
  • Sunday--broke my kitchen faucet by leaning on it (Paul was able to fix).  Oh, yes, the water squirted out the sides...
  • Sunday--leaned on her bottom dresser drawer, while I was saying, "Don't lean--it will break" then CREAK...the drawer was sitting on the floor...(Again, Paul fixed it.)  I was VERY frustrated...
  • Sunday--playing with a camera flash umbrella...kept saying she'd bend it...and she did...
  • It was NOT a weekend for Lauren!

March 7--Suzy and I were packing up our kiddos at school.  I called Suzy to my truck to give her games for her classroom.  When we looked again, the Cadwalladers had invaded!  They were hysterical!  Lots of laughter, broken up before any feet flew in faces or tears were shed!  Cara cried, "I want to go home with Lisa!"  Sometime soon, sweetie!
