June 26--Archer Wedding

Shelly's (A.K.A. Aunt Pie) dad got remarried on June 26.  Below are some pictures from the event.  Paul made the wedding cake, was in the wedding, and took after wedding photographs.  I took during wedding photographs.  We were excited to get pictures of us all dressed up!  Doesn't happen often, but we decided we needed to make it happen.  We all look pretty snazzy when we dress up!

Here was Lauren prior to the wedding. I wanted to make sure she had a picture before she dropped bubbles all down her dress and in her hair (which she did after the ceremony).
Shelly and Lauren before we left.
Little Lauren, singing hymns during the ceremony.  This was the only way she would stay contained.
THIS is a picture for my parents--Lauren, Lisa, Logan, and Josh (What's with the "L" names?)
Shelly, Logan, and Josh
Hope and Gary Archer (with Paul's cake!)
Considering it was Paul's first wedding cake, he did a GREAT job.  He was disappointed he couldn't get the icing perfectly smooth.
Lauren found some little girls her age.  When I called her to eat, she said, "Mommy, I can't.  I'm playing with my friends!" I nearly fell over laughing when she said this--she used the word friends!
It was 6 PM, Lauren hadn't had a nap, and we were all exhausted.  However, this was the best of the pictures we could muster as a family!

Good luck, Gary and Hope!

All About Logan!

Logan has been playing ball the past 3 months, I believe.  His first of the final double-elimination games was held on Monday, June 21.  Lauren and I went.  Here are Unca Josh and Lauren snuggling, a VERY rare thing because 1) Lauren doesn't like to snuggle much with anyone except Paul or me and 2) Josh let me take his picture...and he is SMILING!!  This was before the game.

Logan is in right field, just to the left of the coach on the mound.  He's ready to catch a ball!
Logan was number 5 this season which has become Lauren's favorite number to say and identify!
Swing, batta, batta, swing! CRACK!
Running to first...looking to see if he should expect the ball to be thrown.
Logan made it to 3rd and got out as he was running home because the kid behind him wasn't paying attention to Logan's position and forced Logan home.  They kids lost...then went on to play 2 more games...sounds like triple-elimination to me!  Logan is really sad that the season is over.  Shelly and Josh are relieved...

Lauren thought it would be fun to play on Daddy's laptop!  Doesn't she look like she's been doing this for a while now?
Lauren's attention span has been increasing so we've been playing more board games.  She wanted to play Cootie.  Here is her cute bug!
Logan's 8th birthday is July 2, but we had his party early since a lot of people would be going out of town for the 4th (including Paul, Lauren, and me).  Here are Logan's buddies from school and baseball.
Logan's papa got married on Saturday.  Paul made the wedding cake and took most of the pictures while being in the wedding party...talk about multi-tasking!  Lauren had a blast because there were lots of little girls ages 2-5 for her to play with.  If we tried to talk to her, she would say, "Wait a minute, wait a minute, Mommy. I go play with my friends!" I was in stitches!  I'll post wedding pictures later this week.

June in Review

I know that June isn't over yet, but I figured since I am FINALLY on SUMMER VACATION, I would take advantage and post!  We have had some funny stories...

May 30--I know, I know.  NOT June, but it leads into a June story...Note the picture below, the Jeep I abhor.  Paul took it out red-necking for a second time (and broke it again) this day.  He fixed it, then took it around the block to make sure it was working fine.  Lauren asks, "Where's Daddy?  Where's the Jeep?  Is the Jeep broke?"  I tell her, "No, honey, Daddy's just driving the Jeep."  Moments later, Lauren and I hear a distant call..."Babe...I broke the Jeep.  Get a towing strap and bring the Durango."  Paul is at the corner behind our house.  Jeep broke.  So you see the Jeep, parked, after being towed behind the Durango.
(I don't have a picture of the second part of this story, so imagine...)  Fast-foward to Father's Day.  In the past 3 weeks, Paul chose to sell the Jeep (YEA!) and listed it on Craig's List because he now wants a boat.  On Friday, a guy came to look at the Jeep and put a deposit on it.  Paul wasn't selling the tires on the Jeep, so he swapped them for the ones on the Ford.  (If you didn't know, we have an 86 black Ford pick-up that is great for hauling things and just piddling here and there.)  Sunday after church--Paul is washing down the driveway as we pull in because he swapped the tires.  He puts the Ford in gear and backs down the driveway.  Lauren asks, "Where's Daddy going, Mommy?  I want to go.  Did the black truck break, Mommy?"  I assure her, no, the truck isn't broken, but since Daddy changed the tires, he is making sure that the tires don't rub.  Paul leaves (head's right out of the driveway) and Lauren continues to ask if the truck broke.

The 3rd time she asks this, the phone rings.  Caller ID says 'Paul'.  I answer, "Did you break the truck?"  Paul's response: "Yep.  I need you to get the really heavy towing strap on the stairs and meet me by the interstate."  I hang up, Lauren says, "Did Daddy break his truck?" to which I respond, "How in the WORLD did you know that Daddy was going to break his truck?!"

We get into my truck and Lauren starts to yell at me that Daddy went "RIGHT, Mommy, NOT Left!"  Then I keep hearing, "Where are we going?" until we found Paul.  We hauled him back home.  Good thing the Durango is a trusty vehicle (because I drive it!).  How's that for a Father's Day story?

June 11--WE all know Lauren loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!  She's even starting to sing the opening song!  As a reward for doing such a good job with potty training, my parents sent Lauren Minnie Mouse pajamas!  Lauren LOVED them SO much that she immediately undressed, put on her new pj's, and refused to change when we went to K-mart!
June 15--Carrie, Suzy, and I planned a Mommy and Under 3 event with our kids.  We went to Tweetsie (the train) and had a blast!  Carrie came up with a good idea--make sure to take a picture of your child before stepping out of the car as a safety measure.  CHEESE!
"The Twins"--Harris and Lauren
Carrie and Chatham--Chatham won the "Best Behaved Child" award this day!
Fort Boone--Taking care of business!
Cara LOVED the train!  She kept trying to climb out to see better!
Lauren recognized the ponies from our trip with Paul's parents and was furious that she had to wait a turn to "ride MY pony"!
In jail...Lauren was justly here.  She and Harris were whiny during this shot!
Cara joined the 2's..."I don't WANT to, Mommy!"
Cara and Harris riding
Chatham as happy as all get out!
Lauren and Carrie--this was the only way to keep Lauren happy
Suzy had to threaten Lauren with not riding rides if she didn't get out of the teepee to take a picture!
PONIES!
I took the Lauren and Harris up the lift while the toddlers went on the bus.  We had some chill out time at the playground.  WOW, Harris, look at your HAIR!
Cara was REALLY getting tired!
As I mentioned, Chatham won the Best Behaved Baby award!
Flyin' in my plane!
Chatham would cry ONLY when he saw Carrie.  Carrie ducked behind Suzy when Chatham would pass and the crying stopped!
We had a great time at Tweetsie with our friends!  When Paul asked Lauren about it, she said, "Daddy, I"m going to Tweetsie on Saturday."  We did not end up going, but nice try, kiddo!

June 20--Lauren is obsessed with baseball because Logan has played this year.  She LOVES to watch him play regardless if it is practice or a game.  Lauren had been wanting to play ball, so we found her a fat bat and ball.  She was THRILLED!
Wardrobe malfuction!
Now I need to find her a "T" so that she can practice hitting!

Lauren has been really exasperating lately.  She's pitching a LOT of fits or telling us no.  She's refusing to take her afternoon naps which is where I think this is coming from, but she's also getting up earlier and won't fall asleep till later, either.

We have another ear infection, so our doctor is sending us to an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) doctor on July 15 to see if we are a candidate for tubes.  I thought we missed this need, but the ear infections are coming about once a month so we are going to try to head things off.

Lauren's language keeps going through explosions, too.  She averages about 6 to 8 words per sentence and is describing things in her environment with size, color, shapes, and details.  She loves the number 5 (Logan's jersey number) and recognizes it on the radio dial, in books, on TV, or out in public.  She blows our minds with what she remembers and trying to rationalize with us.  Paul and Lauren had a conversation about where to pick up dinner in the car last night.  Paul asked if she wanted McDonald's (her favorite) and she said, "Umm, no, Daddy, we went there already today."  Already?! How does she know how to use a word like already in a sentence?

Paul's summer classes finished up this past weekend, so we're FREE!  We will be heading to our favorite haunt, Charleston, over the 4th for some fun at the ocean!

Say a prayer for Suzy and me...we decided to embark on a four day a week trip to the YMCA to tone our baby/toddler/preschooler fat!  We aren't sure of the results, but we're hoping for some toning!

Project...Driveway and Other Improvements!

April 27--Project...Driveway!!  Here it is, all cleared off. (YEA!!!)
Forms in place
Let the pouring begin!!
Final smoothing
Ta-da!!!!!!!!
It's VERY blinding in the summer sun!  Makes the outside a little hotter, too. However, it is SOO nice not to track dirt up into the house and have our vehicles covered in clay after a heavy rain!

May 27--Our BIG news has been that Lauren has been removed from her diapers!  For about two weeks, Lauren has been doing REALLY well in big-girl panties!  We have had very few accidents (the most over Memorial Day weekend when playing hard with friends!).  To celebrate, we went to Chuck E. Cheese!  Oh, yea!  Lauren was ready to go!
May 28--We played SOOO hard the night before that Lauren did not want to roll out of bed.  When we went in to wake her up, she had kicked off her blankets.  While out to get my camera, Lauren grabbed her blanket and huddled underneath!
May 30--Daddy went "rednecking" while we girls went to church and Sunday school.  He came home covered in about 3/4 inches of mud!  He came home because he broke it.
Happy Memorial Day!
June 4--Paul told me the night before that he and Josh were going to demolish and replace the garage door.  I didn't believe it until we got home from work...
June 5--Paul got up early and got right to working on the garage door!  Here was the first installation after the initial tracks and hardware were in place!  This was around 11:30 in the morning!
2:00 PM--3 of 4 sections up!  There was a lot of difficulty with the last section because the directions weren't very concise and there appear to be missing pieces.  Paul is going to call the guy who sold him the door...in February 2009...to see if he will come out to fix the mistakes.  Something isn't adding up...
In the meantime, Logan, Lauren, and I were hanging out in the house.  Logan--television; Lauren--coloring; Mommy--school work.  (Yes, Logan was astounded that teachers have homework, too!)  I got too focused with my work and didn't realize that Lauren had thought that coloring her hands with a marker would be a great use of her time...
June 6--It was too late to get a good picture of the door installation on Saturday night (it also poured in the evening), so I made sure to take a picture before church on Sunday!  Isn't it beautiful?!  And it only took 16 months...
I needed to wash the shower curtains, so I pulled them down.  As I was putting the liner in, Lauren decided to "hide" in the outer curtain.  Lauren, where ARE you?
Here I am, Mommy!!!
Please visit Suzy's blog (http://www.thecadwalladers.blogspot.com/) to check out our crazy birthday and Memorial Day weekend!  She did such a GREAT job of blogging both events, that I'm going to let her have all the viewings!  My "plan" as the last week of school unfolds is to steal pictures from her blog to add to mine.  I don't think she's copy-righted yet!
