Conjuctivitis

Lauren woke up Sunday night at 11:00 PM, screaming in agony. We found that her left eye had something on it. Paul was able to wipe it away, and we could tell that Lauren felt immediately better. However, every time I tried to put her in her crib, she would scream, so the three of us had a restless night in bed.

I got up, showered, and was prodding Paul to get up to get Lauren ready. He dressed for work, picked her up while I was brushing my teeth, and said, "You're not going to work today. You're taking Lauren to the doctor." Lauren grinned at me with her left eye matted shut with yellow goo.

After a trip to the doctor, we were told that she had pink eye, which we suspected. We were prescribed a drop to go in her eye every 3 hours for the next 7 days. Throughout the whole ordeal, Lauren has grinned, babbled, tried to terrorize the cats, and spoken in her demon voice. She didn't seem to mind some extra Mommy time (and neither did I--we had a really good day considering).

32 Weeks

Lauren just mooned you! (03-22-08) Let's just say that the more active Lauren becomes, the task of changing diapers has increased in time and difficulty.

Dumping Daddy's Easter bucket which I had JUST constructed (and had put at least 10 inches out of her way). She grabbed the bucket and turned it over, emptying the contents, in the 2.3 seconds I turned away to pick up the plastic bags the candy was in so that she wouldn't suffocate...

Lauren's 1st attempt at corn on the cob. She wasn't a fan, but she loves to eat corn OFF of the cob! (03-22-08) This was also Lauren's first time at Sonny's BBQ. She loved eating the pulled pork sandwich I had, baked potato, and mac and cheese!

One of the servers at Sonny's gave Lauren a red balloon as we left. Here are Lauren and "Neigh-neigh" Tracy playing with the new toy! (03-22-08)

32 Weeks Old! Lauren is "helping" me to fold her laundry before going to school this morning! She ended up pulling several articles of clothing out of the basket then tried to use the lightened basket to help her stand.

Boy, oh boy! We're experiencing some MAJOR changes in such a short amount of time! You can see all of the things that Lauren has done in the past WEEK! She's gone from eating some baby foods and table foods to rejecting most baby foods (except veggies). Lauren had her first taste of so many foods, including pulled pork, ham, scalloped potatoes, noodles, teryaki chicken, spaghetti and meatballs, maderine oranges, toast, pancakes, biscuits...she has LOVED every single table food that she has been offered until this morning...oranges! She turned her head away and pursed her lips in refusing the food. She kept jerking her hand away from her teacher when her teacher helped her touch and hold the orange slice. Paul was shocked because Lauren has eaten everything offered to her, but she didn't get a lot of taste for oranges while I was pregnant due to my bladder issues. She isn't a big fan of fruit as it is.

Lauren is also getting a little more quick with her crawling (especially if we're eating something she wants to sample!). She's been trying to stand up, using her hands to support her as she straightens her legs. I bought her a little musical table to help her stand while she plays. She LOVES it! She's trying to figure out how to coordinate herself enough to move around. At this point in time, she just leans on the table and reaches what she wants on the other side.
I'm hearing Mama a LOT more than I ever have before! Her teachers said that she's been saying it a lot while playing. We still get a Dada from her once in a while, but I think Paul feels a little saddened.
Uncle Luke and Aunt Sherry are supposed to come visit us this weekend, so I'm sure that I'll have more pictures to update!

Happy Easter

Lauren, Nick, and Harris at church

Paul, Lauren, and Lisa

Lauren standing on own--AHH!!

Lauren has had an exciting first Easter. We went to church, had our pictures taken, and got to visit with our friends the Cadwalladers.

Lauren also has attempted to stand on her own. Paul found her trying to use her cloth diaper bag to help stand. I turned a basket upside down, and you see the results! We are searching out toys that she can play with to help facilitate the movement yet give her support as she moves on to this new milestone (too quickly!).

Lauren will be having ham, mashed potatoes, and a vegetable for her dinner, straight from Mommy's plate! She's doing a fantastic job with solid foods! Happy Easter!!

31 Weeks

31 Weeks--Sitting up proudly

Not our proudest moment, to be sure...Here is Lauren, full of herself, trying to get Harris's attention. She really enjoys touching other babies, and Harris doesn't protest.

Lauren started to eat table food at daycare today! Her first meal was cereal with applesauce, puffs, and juice. For lunch, she had spaghetti with meat sauce, corn, salad, and juice. Her two favorite lunch foods were the corn and the salad, once ranch dressing was added. So when we went grocery shopping tonight, I made sure that we purchased a bottle of ranch dressing for Lauren! (Paul eats Italian and I prefer bleu cheese.)

I would also like to direct your attention to the March of Dimes sponsorship flag to the left of this post. Along with two other friends from South Newton, I will be walking in April for the March of Dimes to raise money for babies. I have put a small amount of $20 to raise, but I would love to exceed this amount. If you have an extra dollar or two, please click on the link to sponsor my walk.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Here are Lauren and Mommy, sporting their green for St. Patty's Day.  Lauren's onesie says, "Kiss Me, I'm Irish," which is true!!
Harris and Lauren playing at school.
Aunt Suzy, Harris, Lauren, and Lisa--Harris and Lauren are checking out each other's green!

Aunt Suzy, Harris, Lauren, and Lisa, trying to coax the babies into looking at the camera (which they would do AFTER the flash went off!).

We celebrated by eating peas for supper and visiting our neighbors, the Workmans.  We played and chilled out.  A very uneventful evening for us.  We should have dyed Lauren's formula green for the occasion.

7 Months Old

Lauren and Hailey on a playdate Saturday. Hailey's mom called me after they got up and needed some company. The girls shared lunch with us, and they practiced climbing on one another.

While helping cut Hailey's nails, Lauren found her open lunch of green beans and decided it woudl be fun to paint with them, in her brand new white onesie. Mommy was a little upset, but it wasn't Lauren's fault. I left the container there, I thought out of her reach. Doesn't she look proud of her painting?

After cleaning up, I put Lauren back into her high chair to actually feed her her food. In waiting for me to help Heather and Hailey leave, and help Daddy clean water out of the basement (because our drains backed up again), Lauren decided that she was tired of waiting.

OOPS! This got out of order. After Lauren had enough beans to paint with, she tossed to container onto the floor. (Thank goodness it was on the hardwoods, not the carpet!) Catlyn decided to help clean up the mess and ate Lauren's green beans. For as long as the cats haven't liked her, I think they are starting to warm up now!

Grinning in her bunny ears

Yea! I'm 7 months old today!!
We all went to church this morning. Lauren was very talkative during service. The pastor had to turn up his microphone...Lauren fell asleep on the way home. We had pictures at 11:00, so when she woke up and ate, I changed her into her Easter dress for pictures. She took some great shots (pick up March 31st). She fell asleep again before we left and slept for 2 hours. Freddie came by to visit and had a good time seeing Lauren grow and move. My dad called a while later to chat. I had left Lauren in the living room with her puffs and a bowl of dry cereal for me. Yes, Lauren spilled my dish of cereal after having mouthed some of it. I can see it now...the trouble I'm in for!

30 Weeks 03-13-08

03-13-08

03-13-08

Grandma Wade, Lauren, and Grandpa Wade 03-10-08
As Lauren approaches the 7 month mark, her habits and attitude have become more predictable. Yea! The pictures of her weekly birthday were taken around 6:55 this morning. She woke up at 6:30, calling for her Dada who got her up at 6:45. She had a bottle and was posing for me shortly after! What's hilarious is that I had to go through 3 sets of rechargable batteries (all dead) before getting real batteries to take her picture. As soon as she saw the camera, she posed and put her grin on her face. I was stomping through the house, cursing the stupid rechargables and threatening them. I walked past Lauren, who followed me, grinning still, to get the batteries. I had to laugh. She wasn't dissuaded at all by my irritation--she wanted that picture taken!
Lauren's becoming more mobile. She loves to hear bell sounds like in the cats' plastic ball which she went from one side of the room to the other to get, swat, and then chase. At one point in time, Catlyn heard the bell and came running, so it looked like it might be a fight for the toy. Lauren shrieked at the ball, and Catlyn tore off to hide. Paul and I had a hearty laugh!
Lauren has a bottle for breakfast (6-7 ounces), 1/2 cup of cereal around 8:00, a bottle at 9:30, 2 containers of stage two food around 12, a bottle at 2:00, 2 containers of food at 5:00, a bottle around 7:00, and she is usually wanting more food! She's getting a little belly, but it still looks like it goes to her feet!
Her sleep routine is good for us. I'm not going to elaborate because every time I do, she gets off track and we suffer for two weeks. Just know that we are happy.
Lauren is sporting a short sleeve top and capris that her Aunt Sherry got her for Christmas! It was supposed to be 72` here today. The infant room gets really hot, and I didn't want her to suffer. Her teachers said that as she crawled around the room, her pants kept slipping off, so she looked like a snake shedding its skin.

Sad Mommy

While I was playing with my camera, I accidently deleted ALL of my pictures from March! I am SO upset! These photos would include shopping in Gaffney, weekly birthday photos, and Lauren's visit with her grandparents this weekend! Grr...so, please be understanding as to why I've not updated pictures and the such. I'm very upset about this, so I will have to pull my pictures from the blog to my camera card to print.

Until Thursday...
